A gun advocate I know maintains that America will never able to get rid of guns, at least not for a couple of decades given the current craziness. I agree with that.

So, I also agree with her suggestion that there be a course in gun safety in every public school. Teach kids what they are and what they aren't. Teach them how to care for them and keep them safely put away. Take away the myths of self-protection, manliness, and violence.

Education worked for limited smoking because it was accurate. It didn't work for pot because it was a lie.

Tell people the truth. There is a lot of that missing in this country now.
