During the last thirty years there have been huge changes in how everyone in the world works, plays, communicates, and moves about. There have been changes in the definitions of genders, what is labelled as a family, and even how babies are made.
The US has seen an influx of people with different color skin, different eating habits, who worship different gods. Minorities, including Black people, have taken advantage of the new technologies to find common ground with each other, develop a stronger sense of community, and now they are getting organized and focused politically.
All of these things have put a great deal of pressure on kinds of people who have determined who gets what, and what happens in this country. It has been the same people since the country was founded: straight, white, wealthy (often overweight), men.
They don’t want anything to change, from the use of fossil fuel, to who are the masters and who are the servants.
Now, some straight, white, well-muscled, NOT very wealthy men are beginning to realize that they are not part of the ruling class, and never will be. Even white women are leaving them in the dust. This makes them feel oppressed.
Still, the police don’t stop them. They can say what they want to whomever they want. They can walk through any neighborhood when they feel like it They can buy any house they can afford.. They can shop in fancy stores and not be followed or questioned. They can smoke weed in public, They can even attack the Congress of the United States, beat-up policemen, and attempt to overturn an election, and not expect to be punished.
Can you do all that, Johnny?
