For 35 years we have owned a small house that is about 1/4 mile to a beautiful public beach. For 32 years there were several paths that gave us easy access to the beach but each of them ran over a different, but very short stretch of private property. People would cross our property to get to those paths. Everyone was polite, friendly, and respectful. Over the last five years people have built houses on the open lots, or they have torn down the small houses and put up new ones that are three times the size. Each new house has put up a fence. On each fence there is a No Trespassing sign. Community has been replaced by “I, Me, Mine.” And the money to build a fortress.
