For the last 40 years the Republican Party has convinced people that profits were more important than people. They were supported by a few ultra-wealthy who felt the need to become super-ultra-wealthy. Those people bought the party, with the help of appealing to a racist subculture.

Over the years those super-ultra-wealthy, with the support of big corporate money, have used their extra wealth to change the business codes and the tax laws so that they could keep more of their money. While they did that they cut social programs and taxed the middle class, and paid workers less. “Trickle down economics” has meant that most of the money got sucked up!

Now, with Trump, they have exponentially raised the level of outright corruption and deceit.

My hope is that Ms. Warren does not get lured into a debate about the exact specifics of her tax or healthcare policies. Her goals are clear. Affordable medical coverage for everyone, eventually a government run, single payor plan, and a tax plan that builds a middle class and prevents the super-ultra-wealthy from hoarding money.

She doesn’t have to get more specific than that. The details are meaningless at this time. All she needs to say is that, unlike Trump, she will work with Congress to get the best legislation possible to keep our economy, and our democracy strong.

People need to see that they have to vote for a progressive Congress as well as progressive state legislatures. Otherwise, nothing will get accomplished. Specifics at this time just cause confusion. Goals should be clear.
