Google and the other big tech companies have more power over our lives than any government. They know more about us than the government, and they use that knowledge for their own purposes. We, the people who use their products, have very little access to what they have and what they are trying to do.

Ms. Gebru is a person who raised some concerns about these issues. They fired her.

For her, it’s better than being executed. I’m sure she will find gainful employment. But for us, we remain in the dark, with an increasing need to be wary.
