I’m sure that Trump would not mind if a few hundred of his most faithful get shot if they attempt any violence. I am not so sure that even his most fanatic followers are up for that. Trump cannot promise them that he can call off the National Guard, or that the police will be poorly equipped and undermanned.

An increasing amount of people, including some in Congress, are feeling that the old man is losing his luster. He has promised them several times that he is the chosen one. There have been too many revisions.
