I agree that many Americans are worn down and have that glazed-over look. That is part of the reason behind “quiet quitting.”

There is another reason behind all of this exhaustion and confusion. In all of our other crises, such as the early wars with the British, the Civil War, the depression, and WWI and WWII, we were a united country with a common enemy. We really felt we were fighting for freedom and democracy.

Now, our enemy is each other. There is no national agreement and therefore no national resolve. Also, combating the destruction of our living environment will take a real change in lifestyle. The changes will shift the flow of money and jobs. Our use of energy, the kind of energy we use, the food we eat and how we obtain it, how we travel, and how we work, are all being affected. These are big disruptive changes that people don’t want to make.
