I agree that the events you cite in this post are upsetting and controversial. I’m not sure if our society is deteriorating or just going through a very difficult period of change. Most of those changes are due to the pervasiveness of technology in our lives.

For example “hate speech.” There has always been hate speech. Every society has its form of racism and distrust. However, the internet and social media have given hate speech a platform that travels instantly around the world. Also, it can be done anonymously, which makes it easier for people to troll and dox, and get other people very messed up.

I found it interesting that you object to the term “Christian Nationalist” but then you say that it is commonly used by Marxists to diminish the views of Christians. However, many liberal secular people view calling anyone who disagrees with a Christian a Marxist, as a way to diminish their opinions.

What the world needs is a lot more flexibility and tolerance. The influence of religion in politics has taken a big leap forward over the last few years. Many people feel that the Republicans have promised the evangelicals more power than their numbers deserve. Certainly, you don’t feel former President Trump was a good Christian. But many people used him to get what they wanted. They may not have realized that right behind Trump were those who wanted to make sure their profits remained high while government regulations were few. They needed the evangelicals to win some elections. I don’t think Mitch McConnell or Kevin McCarthy give a damn about fetuses, they only care about the money.
