I am a lot older than you. A few years ago I went through some pretty harsh treatments for cancer. It seems those treatments were successful, although the treatments have been the cause of some new limitations.

Since then I have given myself permission to put a higher value on my time. I attempt, as diplomatically as possible, to avoid spending time with people who I find boring, or worse. I don’t feel I am being judgmental, or anti-social, just selective. I also find that I value the time I spend reading, writing, thinking, or walking by myself. I can appreciate breathing, being without pain, and being alive. Too many of my contemporaries are not as fortunate.

My friend has a shirt that says "Life is too short to be drinking bad wine." I don't drink wine, but I get the message.
