I don't want to make this too political, but during the last thirty years one of the two major US political parties decided that the major function of the federal governemnt was to make sure that businesses made profits.

That meant no concern about the environment, or new sources of energy. No concern about labor rights, women's rights, or civil rights. It even reached the level where they are trying to limit voting rights.

These actions helped divide the country to the extent that we have no clear agreement about our values. What are we fighting for?
