I know the Biden wants to heal the nation and bring us all together, but right now that’s a fool’s errand. The current Republican Party has shown no interest in doing anything but lining the pockets of their biggest supporters, the ones who are already rich from coal, oil, banking, and other older, often polluting, industries.

As soon as Biden is sworn in, the long arm of the law needs to come down on Trump for his years of financial, political and moral misdeeds. I would not be against someone looking into obstruction of justice, and misuse of government funds. The man is a criminal and ought to be exposed and treated as such.

After he takes office, Biden needs to do what Obama didn’t feel was necessary. Obama misjudged the depth of racial antipathy, and thought his election meant that America had changed. Biden doesn’t have to deal directly with that, even with Harris. But he has to get out and sell his programs to Ohio and Texas. He should take Sherrod Brown and AOC with him, to show a united Democratic Party that wants to appeal to everyone.

The current Republican Party needs to be smashed. It is based on greed and corruption, bolstered by racism to attract voters. During Trump’s four years America has done nothing but try to avoid living in the 21st Century. We are a nation in which 80% of the population is struggling and government is trying to blame it on immigrants.

We live in an era of constant campaigning and an overload of misinformation. The Dems let up under Obama and thought the world had changed. Clearly, it has changed, democracy has been beaten and battered. We are now in a struggle for the survival of our democratic institutions. Trump is willing to undermine free elections, and the Republicans, knowing they are a minority party, are letting him try. Biden has two years to expose their hypocrisy, and unite the country. He has to get started by February. Having a vaccine will help.
