If your only definition of a coup is when an armed uprising takes control of the heads of governemnt and legislatures and removes them from office by violence and force, then this wasn't a coup.

But it was a planned attempt to stop the counting of the Electoral College votes, so that the results of the electon could be changed, either by the votes of each state, the acceptance of different electors, the Supreme Court, or just by chaos and confusion so that Trump could call a state of emergency.

This plan did not call for guns becasue that would have looked more like your version of a coup and then the planners could not hide behind your explanation, which is what they are tryng to do..

You are really just cutting semantic hairs here. This was an attempt by the loser of an election to find a way to not leave office. Call what you will, it was sedition.
