Malcom Butler announced his retirement yesterday. That may not seem relevant to your post unless you are familiar with the term “Monday Morning Quarterback.” In the Super Bowl of 2015, with 20 seconds to go, one yard short of a winning touchdown, Russell Wilson, the fine Seattle QB, did not give the ball to M. Lynch, one the best ball carriers in the game. Instead he threw a short pass the aforementioned Mr. Butler intercepted. Seattle fans still think it was the wrong call — now that it’s over it certainly looks that way.

Less the six minutes earlier, with New England two yards away from scoring the winning touchdown, Tom Brady ran the same pass play, but his receiver caught the ball. Brilliant call! say the Pat’s fans.

War is chaos. War in Afghanistan is exponential chaos. In Afghanistan there is no order, no army, no one is charge, and sixteen different factions. Biden told Obama to get out. Obama didn’t have the nerve. They all knew that the end would be something like this. As soon as the first plane left carrying Americans away the Taliban would have closed in, and the army would have collapsed. No matter how it was done it would be this way.

I agree that now that it’s over it will be as much of an issue as the war was for the last fifteen years. Crickets.
