Much of the future is already here. You can say it arrived in 1968, but it really took off in 2000 and 2007. Many people are thrilled and are embracing the possibilities. Others are just waking up to the changes, and still others are misinformed.
What has happened is that skills that people had been taught that were supposed to help them live happy and prosperous lives don’t work that well any more. The world has been digitized, technoized, robotized, and globalized. We all have been quantified, monitored, analyzed, and categorized, whether we know it, or like it.
In many ways, everyone can, and eventually will benefit from this. But we are in the midst of a huge transition. The people who have benefitted from the older ways, whose power is based on that, are doing their best to slow or stop the inevitable changes. They are doing this by making people afraid of what is coming. Terrible things such as equality, justice and harmony are the threats we are all facing.
