That is really part of the problem isn't it. Taking out a gun is a nuclear power move by the police. They seem to go to it too easily when someone who is upset won't listen.
Most cops don't do that. Most cops know that if they stay calm and reasonable the situation will be resolved peacefully. But there are too many cops who feel that disrespecting them is almost a capital crime. They become judge, jury and executioner.
Things are especially sensitive in Black communities right now. They have been treated like dangerous suspects for a hundred and fifty years. They feel tense around police and the police feel that. It makes some cops more tense than other. That needs to change.
Again, people need to work together, get to know each other, and understand how to help, not control, each other.
