The problem is that the skills people had developed over the last century, which were different from the skills humans needed for centuries before that, no longer lead to a stable, successful life. Everything has been disrupted by new technologies.

If those technologies are put to good use we could begin to diminish the destruction of our environment. We could feed and house 7/8 of the world’s population. We could develop sustainable energies and sources of food that don’t poison us. We now have the potential to design our own lives to be less stressful, healthier, more interesting, and even more fun.

BUT, to do that we have to learn to cooperate, negotiate, share, and trust. Are humans capable of learning those skills?
