This story is tragic, infuriating and much too common. Yet, there are still many people, people who have large platforms, big audiences and go on TV, who try to tell everyone that we should all be going back to work. That their economy is more important than the health and lives of the people who actually do the work.
We are either going to come out of this crisis much more untiled and stronger as a country, or even more divided between the rich and poor, and also the Black and White.
It seems that the rich and powerful can get tested three times a day, and they can work from home. The doctors, nurses, other healthcare assistants, bus drivers, subway workers, food deliverers, truck drivers, packers, shippers, and farmworkers, 50% of whom are undocumented laborers, should all go to work also, even if they are much more likely to get sick and die.
But the captains of industry and their families, who work for the companies that are getting the most of the bail-out money, need those people so they can stay safe at home.
Pay attention to who is really helping and who is doing the taking. Otherwise we will never recover.
