You are certainly very forgiving. It seems that in order to do so you allow yourself to skip over several major facts that the Select Committee has uncovered. Also, the fact that the Oath Keepers were not charged with trespassing or smaller crimes. They were charged with sedition. The DOJ did not do this lightly.

You are also skipping that a lot of planning from the White House went into this. Trump was told that if he could stop the counting and delay the certification of the election, he had a chance to bring in the “alternate electors” and their forged documents. He thought he could throw the whole thing into enough doubt that the election might be given to Congress or the Supreme Court. He thought he had enough votes in those places.

The pawns who beat up cops, smashed windows, and crapped in the Capitol, were not supposed to kill people or set up a new government. They were just supposed to STOP THE STEAL so that Trump et al could put the new process in motion. As one Republican member of the Freedom Caucus said in a text, he wanted to drive a stake through the heart of our democracy.

That is not just a bit of cosplay, That is sedition. 20 years in jail.
