You do a good job of describing the actions of the elected Republicans. But, the underlying cause of this behavior is simple: bribery — bribery that has been made legal by the changing of laws by conservative state legislators, and conservatives who were illegally packed into the courts, including the Supreme Court.
The US is now being run by a very small group of billionaires who have bought control of the Republican Party. They funnel most of the money through McConnell. They run the organization that wrote all the recent voter suppression laws. Their only goal is to hold on to power so they can hold on to an extreme amount of money. They don’t care about democracy, or the other 99.8% of the people. They own 35.8% of the wealth of the country. The top 5% own 65%.
